Olympian artists at PyeongChang 2018
Over the course of 17 days, four Olympian artists took inspiration from the ideals of Pierre de Coubertin, founder of the modern Olympic Games, and shared their artistic expression in the form of two projects.
The first was a series of short films d’auteur shot on location with Olympian Alexi Pappas, blending fiction and reality. The films were conceived and produced by Alexi Pappas, a runner, writer and filmmaker, in collaboration with fellow writer and filmmaker Jeremy Teicher.
The second project was an art workshop it the Olympic Village run by Olympians Roald Bradstock, Lanny Barnes and Jean-Blaise Evéquoz. The possibility of working on the project was offered to the athletes taking part in the Games, and together they produced 15 paintings inspired by the Winter Games – that’s one painting a day!
MEET THE ARTISTS
Olympian artists at PyeongChang 2018
As part of an initiative led by the Olympic Museum, three Olympian Artists led a participatory workshop for athletes in the Olympic Village during the Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018. In all, 111 athletes from all over the world took part.
Together, they created 15 new paintings over the course of the Games. Through teamwork, each canvas was finished at a rate of one per day, with the paintings representing the various winter sports competitions that took place during the Games. When arranged together, the individual paintings reveal the Olympic rings.
